On April 9, 2017 at 8:25 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to the area of Route 8, near Wildwood Road Extension, for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The reported vehicle was intercepted by a Hampton Township officer, who conducted a traffic stop on Craighead Road. The officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle upon reaching the driver's side window. The operator showed visible signs of impairment, and was asked to submit to field sobriety tests. The operator was unable to complete the tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
