On April 10, 2017 at 12:15 a.m., a Hampton Township officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at excessive speeds on Route 8. The officer also observed that the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane of travel, and a traffic stop was initiated on Wildwood Road Extension. Upon reaching the driver's side window, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The operator showed signs of impairment and was unable to complete field sobriety tests. The operator was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI.
