On May 9, 2018 at 2:09 a.m., a Hampton Township officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 8 after observing a vehicle equipment violation. Upon making contact with the operator at the vehicle's window, the officer could detect the odor of suspected marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The operator denied that there was any illegal substances within the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located drugs and paraphernalia. The operator was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, which they were able to complete.
