On June 25, 2018 at 11:09 p.m., a Hampton Township officer initiated a traffic stop on Route 8 after the vehicle in question was observed to be weaving out of it's lane of travel. The vehicle was also observed to be traveling well under the posted speed limit and almost drove off of the roadway just prior to the traffic stop. The officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the operator's breath as they were speaking, as well as slurred speech. The operator was unable to stand without swaying and losing his balance. The operator was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI.
