On August 22, 2018 at 6:55 p.m., Hampton Township officers responded to Route 8 for a single vehicle accident with injuries. Witnesses who remained on scene stated that the vehicle was traveling south on Route 8 when it suddenly jerked sideways and collided with a guide rail. The operator sustained visible injuries to her face and nose due to the fact that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of impact and was launched into the windshield. The operator was extracted from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
