On August 7, 2019 at 2:57 a.m., a Hampton Township officer observed a vehicle traveling on Route 8 without any front or rear lighting. They then observed the vehicle strike a guide rail and curb and initiated a traffic stop. The officer could detect the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from inside the vehicle. The officer also observed other visible signs of impairment, as well as fresh damage to the vehicle. The operator failed to complete field sobriety tests as had been explained and demonstrated and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI.
