On August 14, 2019 at 10:41 a.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to Route 8 for a multiple vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered that four vehicles were involved. The accident occurred when three vehicles were stopped in the southbound passing lane of Route 8, waiting for a vehicle that was ahead of their vehicles to turn left into a parking lot. Another driver failed to stop in time and struck the rear of one vehicle, which caused a chain reaction for the three vehicles ahead. Two of the involved vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to severe damage.
