On January 23, 2020 at 8:10 p.m., a Hampton Township officer observed a vehicle traveling on Route 8 that appeared to be having difficulty staying in it’s own lane. The officer observed the vehicle swerve off of the roadway and almost strike a utility pole. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which came to a stop after the officer observed it strike a curb. Upon making contact with the vehicle operator, they showed visible signs of impairment. The operator failed to perform field sobriety tests as had been explained and demonstrated and was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI.
