On June 5, 2020 at 8:11 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to the area of Route 8 for a report of a vehicle that was driving erratically from Shaler Township, and was reported to have struck a road barrier multiple times. A Hampton Township officer intercepted the vehicle traveling north on Route 8. The officer observed that the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane of travel. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in question, and upon making contact with the vehicle operator, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the car. The officer also observed other physical indicators of impairment. The operator submitted to field sobriety tests, which they were unable to perform as had been instructed and demonstrated. The operator was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
