On June 7, 2020 at 7:35 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to the area of Route 8 and Clearview Road after a witness called 911 to report a possible intoxicated driver. An officer was able to intercept the vehicle in question and observed that the car was unable to maintain its lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and upon making contact with the vehicle operator, the officer immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The officer also observed other physical indicators of impairment while conversing with the driver. The operator submitted to field sobriety tests, which they failed to perform as had been instructed and demonstrated. The operator was also found to be in possession of drugs and was placed under arrest.
