On December 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to West Hardies Road for a report of a two vehicle accident involving a Postal Service vehicle. Upon arrival, officers observed a USPS Truck that was in the front yard of a residence. A damaged mailbox was observed, and the second involved vehicle had pulled off of the road into a driveway. The accident occurred when the USPS vehicle was struck from behind while the operator was delivering mail into mailboxes. The operator of the second vehicle, which was traveling behind the USPS vehicle, attempted to pass the mail truck, and upon entering the oncoming lane observed an oncoming vehicle, which resulted in them swerving back into their lane of travel and striking the rear of the USPS vehicle. The operator of one involved vehicle sustained injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to the hospital. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
