On December 23, 2020 at 10:39 p.m., Hampton Township Police responded to Route 8, at Harts Run Road, for a two vehicle accident. The accident occurred when one vehicle was stopped in the southbound turning lane of Route 8, waiting to turn left onto Harts Run Road, when the vehicle was struck from behind. While speaking to the operator of one vehicle, the officer observed indications of impairment. The operator submitted to field sobriety tests, which they failed to complete as had been explained and demonstrated. The operator was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. One vehicle had to be towed from the scene due to extensive damage.
