On February 21, 2021 at 4:16 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to Route 8 for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The reporting party advised dispatchers that the vehicle in question had a flat tire and was driving on the rim of the tire. They also advised that the vehicle was swerving all over the roadway, struck the curb multiple times, and nearly struck multiple utility poles. A Hampton Township officer intercepted the vehicle on Route 8, and upon making contact with the vehicle operator observed visible signs of impairment. The operator submitted to field sobriety tests, which they were unable to complete as had been explained and demonstrated. The operator was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI. The operator was also found to be in possession of illegal substances.
