On February 23, 2021 at 848 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to a business on Route 8 for a hit and run accident that had occurred. The complainant advised that they were sitting in their vehicle in the parking lot when it was struck by another vehicle. The complainant then asked the other driver for their insurance information and the other driver shouted obscenities and left the scene. The complainant provided a vehicle description, as well as a registration plate for the vehicle. Police were able to intercept the vehicle in question. The operator of the actor vehicle showed visible signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests. The operator was unable to complete these tests as had been explained and demonstrated and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
