On March 16, 2021 at 5:12 p.m., a Hampton Township officer came across a three vehicle accident that had just occurred on Route 8. Two of the involved drivers complained of injury and were transported to the hospital. Two of the three vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to extensive damage. The accident was said to have occurred when one driver, who claimed to be distracted by another individual in the vehicle, failed to stop their car in time for a line of traffic that was stopped in the southbound passing lane of Route 8. The vehicles were stopped waiting for a car to turn left onto McCully Road. The operator was unable to stop in time and struck another vehicle from behind, which then was pushed into the rear of a third vehicle that was stopped ahead.
