On May 5, 2021 at 2:40 p.m., Hampton Township Police received a report from a resident on Hampton Avenue regarding an attempted fraud. The resident stated that they received a phone call from an unknown person claiming to be their nephew. The "nephew" explained that they were involved in an accident in California that severely injured the other driver. The "nephew" claimed that they had to to go Mexico and requested $10,000.00. The resident realized that this was likely a phone scam and did not provide the caller with any sensitive information or money.
