On 06/21/2022 at 11:20 a.m., a Hampton Township officer was conducting a business check in Hampton Plaza when they observed a male on a cell phone standing at the lower end of the parking lot. The officer asked him if he needed any assistance. The male stated that he was operating his vehicle, heading southbound on Rt. 8, and just had an accident, which disabled his vehicle. He said he hit a curb causing his tire to go flat. While speaking with the operator, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage about his breath and person and observed other signs of impairment. The male was subsequently placed into custody for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
