On 10/10/2022 at 12:15p.m., Hampton Twp. Police Department received a report concerning Identity Theft. The reporting party stated that they use Nerd Wallet to monitor their credit information. Over the weekend, they had received two alerts for hard credit inquiries. The reporting party stated that they went onto Nerd Wallet and saw that someone had attempted to open two credit cards with their personal information, to include name and social security number. The resident then went into their Transunion Credit report and saw that the unknown individual applied for a Capital One card and a First Premier Bank Mastercard. The reporting party said that the actor(s) used their name and social security number to do so. The reporting party contacted both credit card companies and had the applications cancelled. After talking to the credit companies, they then contacted the Credit Bureau to file a report.
