On February 3, 2017 at 1:12 p.m., Hampton Township Police received a report of a suspicious phone call from a resident on East Elfinwild Road. The resident stated that they received a phone call, and when they answered, they could hear a frantic woman's voice screaming and crying. A male voice then came on the line stating that the resident's daughter had been kidnapped and kept asking if he was going to help her. The call disconnected when the resident would not respond. The complainant verified that their daughter was fine, and realized that it was a common phone scam. They wanted police to be aware of this scare tactic.
