On June 4, 2017 at 2:14 a.m., a Hampton Township officer observed a vehicle traveling north on Route 8 at a high rate of speed. The officer observed the vehicle then turn onto Duncan Avenue and continued at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was then initiated on Duncan Avenue. Upon speaking with the operator, the officer immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The operator showed signs of impairment and was unable to complete field sobriety tests as had been explained and demonstrated. The operator was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
