On July 26, 2017 at 5:29 p.m., Hampton Township officers responded to Route 8 for a reported hit and run accident. Upon arrival, the reporting party stated that they were traveling north on Route 8, when a silver Jeep pulled out of a business without proper clearance. The reporting party stated that they attempted to stop their vehicle in time to avoid a collision, but was unable to avoid the accident. The silver Jeep fled the scene without stopping to exchange necessary contact, vehicle, and insurance information. The involved vehicle sustained moderate damage.
