On September 14, 2017 at 1:33 a.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to Middle Road for a single vehicle accident. The reporting party stated that the vehicle was on fire and that the operator was still inside. Upon the officer's arrival, they located the vehicle, which had collided into a utility pole and a tree. The operator was out of the vehicle upon their arrival, and Hampton Fire Dept. responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Upon making contact with the vehicle operator, they showed visible signs of impairment. After being evaluated by EMS, the driver submitted to field sobriety tests. The operator was unable to complete the tests as had been explained and demonstrated and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
