On September 22, 2017 at 2:34 a.m., a Hampton Township officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 8. Upon following the vehicle, which turned onto Harts Run Road, the vehicle swerved out of it's travel lane on three occasions. A traffic stop was initiated, and when the officer approached the vehicle, they observed a female laying in the back seat of the vehicle. The operator stated that the female had consumed too many alcoholic beverages during the night. As the operator spoke, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on their breath. The operator showed other signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests. The operator failed to complete the tests as were explained and demonstrated and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The officer also located drugs and paraphernalia during the traffic stop.
