On November 9, 2017 at 10:59 a.m., Hampton Township officers were dispatched to Route 8 for a two vehicle accident. Upon the officers arrival, they were notified by both operators that the accident occurred when one vehicle was stopped at a red light and was rear ended by the other vehicle. There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash, and both vehicles were operable. While speaking to both operators, the responding officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from one of the operator's breath. The operator was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, which they failed to complete as had been explained and demonstrated by the officer. The operator was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
