On June 1, 2018 at 5:39 p.m., Hampton Township Police received a traffic complaint through dispatch regarding a vehicle being operated by a possibly intoxicated driver. Officers were able to intercept the vehicle, and observed it almost strike another vehicle. Upon initiating a traffic stop on the vehicle on Route 8, the officer asked the driver for a driver's license, proof of insurance, and a registration. The operator had trouble retrieving the requested documents. The operator was observed to have pinpoint pupils, and slurred speech. The operator failed to complete field sobriety tests as had been explained and demonstrated and was placed under arrest for DUI. The operator was also found to be in possession of drugs.
