On May 14, 2019 at 1:53 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to Route 8, at Harts Run Road, for a two vehicle accident. The accident occurred when one vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 8, and began to make a left hand turn onto Harts Run Road. As the operator was making the turn, the rear of the vehicle slid and struck the rear of another vehicle. While on scene, officers observed an oily substance covering the roadway at that location. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. Officers followed the trail of oil and located a vehicle in Indiana Township that was responsible for the oily substance. The PTO had broken off of the vehicle, causing the hydraulic line to become damaged and leak. Traffic control was provided until the roadway was fully cleaned.
