On January 20, 2021 at 7:56 a.m., Hampton Township Police responded to Wildwood Road for a power line that was reported to have fallen on the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located a live high tension wire on the roadway. The downed wire created a power outage in the area, which caused loss of power to the traffic signals at several intersections on Route 8, as well as several businesses. Generators were brought in for the affected traffic lights. Duquesne Light Co. responded to the scene and fixed the wire.
