On April 9, 2021 at 4:00 p.m., Hampton Township Police took a fraud report from a resident from St. Andrew Square. The resident reported that they received a phone call from an individual claiming to be from Zivia Energy Drinks. The individual asked the resident to display a decal sticker advertising the energy drink product on their vehicle, and in exchange they would pay them $500.00 per week. The individual mailed a check to the resident, which totaled much higher than $500.00. They individual from the alleged energy drink company claimed that the extra funds were sent in error and advised the resident to send back the monetary difference in the form of a money order. The original check bounced following these actions, so the resident lost a large sum of money by following through with the scammers requests. This type of scenario is a common type of phone scam.
