On July 3, 2021 at 1:08a.m., a Hampton Township Officer observed a vehicle to be jerking back and forth from left to right within its lane. The vehicle in question also almost struck the curb twice and was driving at an unsafe distance away from the vehicle in front of it. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle in question. Upon approaching the operator, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the operator and the vehicle. The officer also observed that the operator displayed visible signs of impairment. The operator was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety tests, in which the driver failed to complete as instructed. The operator was placed into custody for suspicion of DUI.
