On 05/23/2022 at 7:26 a.m., Hampton Township Police responded to the area of Route 8, near Clearview Road, for a vehicle that had driven over a guide-rail and into the creek. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle in question over a steep hillside. The involved truck had sustained damage to the entire vehicle. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle was seated in a nearby parking lot and stated that he was traveling north on Route 8, in the curb lane, when a deer ran into the roadway ahead of him. He stated that he swerved to the right to try and avoid it and struck the guide-rail. His vehicle went up onto the guide-rail, traveled on it for a distance, before tipping over the top of it, struck a large tree with the passenger side of the vehicle, which resulted in the vehicle rolling over. It then landed upright in the ravine at that location. Ferra's Towing responded to the scene for removal. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the entire unit. PennDot was notified of the guide rail damage.
