[ARCHIVED] Vehicle Accident

On 06/23/2022 at 8:13 a.m., Hampton Twp. Police units responded to East Hardies Rd. for a report of a single vehicle accident.  County dispatch advised that the caller reported that the driver had a head injury.  In addition, it was reported that a utility pole had been damaged as a result of the accident. Upon arrival, officers made contact with members of Shaler/Hampton E.M.S., who were already on scene assessing the driver for injuries.  The driver stated that they were driving eastbound on East Hardies Rd. at the time of the accident but could not remember anything else pertaining to the crash.  Officers surveyed the scene and found that the operator was traveling eastbound on East Hardies Rd.  and, for unknown reasons, drifted across the road and crossed into the westbound lane of East Hardies Rd.  The vehicle continued to drift off of the roadway and travel into a front yard where it struck a utility pole with the front driver side of his vehicle.  After striking and sheering the pole, his vehicle continued to the edge of the yard where the rear passenger side of the vehicle struck a tree.  Finally, the vehicle came to rest on Windy Hill Dr. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and moderate rear passenger side damage.  The vehicle was towed from the scene. Duquesne Light was notified and responded to the scene for repairs to the sheered off utility pole and downed wires.
