On 01/11/2023 at 6:59 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to the area of William Flinn Hwy and Oxford Blvd. for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. One driver was said to have a possible head injury and the other driver's injuries were unknow. Upon arrival, Fire and EMS were already on scene treating both patients in the vehicles. It was reported that one operator was trying to turn left from William Flinn Highway onto Oxford Boulevard but did not have the proper clearance to do so and struck the other unit in the driver side wheel well area. One driver was transported to the hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
While speaking with the other driver, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from their person and breath. The driver was also swaying back and forth while standing still and had trouble keeping balance while speaking with officers. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. There had been a 911 call prior to the crash from a neighboring jurisdiction that involved a vehicle matching the description of the actor vehicle driving erratically in an unsafe manner towards Hampton Township.
