On 5/31/2023 at 11:08 a.m., the Hampton Police Department closed William Flinn Hwy between West Hardies Rd. and Bardonner Rd. due to a water mail break. At multiple locations between O'Reilly Auto Parts and Anytime Fitness there was water gushing from the ground and the road was lifting up causing a hazardous condition.
The Hampton Fire Department and the Hampton/ Shaler Water Authority were notified and arrived on scene and the Fire Department assisted with traffic control and with setting out traffic cones. The Water Authority shut the water off and took over the scene. Once lanes for northbound and southbound travel were made, the highway was reopened.
