On 6/19/23, the Hampton Township Police Station received a call from Mercedes Benz reporting that they received an emergency alert from a gray Mercedes Benz AMG in the area of Harts Run Rd and Fernwood Ln. and had not been able to get a hold of the driver of the vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers located the vehicle facing west bound on the hillside of the east bound side of Harts Run Road. Contact was made with the driver who was sitting with passing motorists. The male stated that he was not sure what happened. Shaler Hampton EMS was called to the scene for an evaluation. Telephone pole (Pole#: 122611) appeared to be damaged from the vehicle, Officers had ACES notify Duquesne Light to be dispatched to assess the damage. Hampton and North Hampton Fire were also dispatched for traffic control.
Unit #1 sustained moderate damage to the driver side front end and was removed from the scene by Zang’s Auto. The driver was transported from the scene by Shaler Hampton EMS to Allegheny General Hospital.
A witness to the accident stated that he was following behind Unit #1, and he observed the vehicle to have difficulty while coming west on Harts Run Road. He stated that he observed the driver to slump over before heading into the east bound lane of travel and strike the telephone pole.
