On 2/7/2025, a telephone call was received at the Hampton Twp police station regarding possible fraud. The reporting party stated that she received a phone call from a male claiming to be from Verizon. The male told her that her Verizon account had been compromised, and two Apple iPhones were purchased through her account and were being shipped to her residence. The male knew her address, name and telephone number. The reporting party became suspicious and ended the conversation. She said that she called Verizon herself to verify the information. Verizon said that the phone call she received was not from them. Verizon did see that she had iPhones that were purchased through her account and were being shipped to her residence. Verizon cancelled the order, and she did not have any monetary loss at that time. The reporting party was advised to monitor her Verizon and financial accounts and change the passwords to them and to also file an affidavit with the FBI with the information.
