On June 8, 2025, Hampton units were dispatched to the area near Starbucks (4655 William Flinn Highway) for a possible intoxicated driver. There was a total of three different complainants who contacted 9-1-1 regarding this driver. Upon arrival, Officers observed a vehicle in the left southbound turning lane of William Flinn Highway and Wildwood Road. The male in the driver seat was slumped over and not alert. The driver was asked if he needed medical attention, which he denied.
Due to the totality of the circumstances listed, in addition to Field Sobriety Testing a Drug Influence Evaluation was conducted by an IACP/NHSTA certified Drug Recognition Expert. Following the testing the driver was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
