On 1/19/26, a Hampton Police Officer was on Route 8 conducting a traffic enforcement detail when he observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 8 at a high rate of speed. He observed it strike a curb then a guardrail. After striking the guardrail, the vehicle had a change of direction and crossed over the double yellow lines and striking another vehicle that was traveling northbound on Route 8. Two vehicles were towed from the scene.
